Beta Film has secured a German deal for two family titles under its Beta Kids & YA label.

Public broadcaster ZDF has acquired the series Astrid Lindgren’s Seacrow Island and the animated feature film Benjamin Bat from Beta Film.

Astrid Lindgren’s Seacrow Island premiered on Sweden’s SVT to outstanding ratings, generating 6.5 million views across its six episodes in a country of 10 million people. The 6×27’ series will air in Germany over the Easter holidays, with the first two episodes scheduled for Good Friday at 9:00 a.m., followed by daily episodes in the same slot through Easter Monday.

Based on Astrid Lindgren’s beloved classic, the series follows the inhabitants and visitors of Seacrow Island, where a run-down summer cottage becomes the setting for unforgettable childhood adventures. The series is produced by SF Studios in co-production with SVT and Astrid Lindgren AB.

Benjamin Bat is a 76-minute animated feature about a bat who is afraid of the dark until he meets Sherida, an outgoing tropical songbird who turns his world upside down. The film premiered at Cinekid 2024 and has since screened at more than 20 international festivals across Europe, India and Australia. It is produced by Storytellers Film & TV and Zeilt Productions, in co-production with Avrotros.

Both titles are internationally distributed by Beta Film’s Beta Kids & YA.
