Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a feature film adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s bestselling horror novel The Final Girl Support Group, with Christopher Landon attached to write and direct.

The Final Girl Support Group reunites Landon with Hendrix following their collaboration on My Best Friend’s Exorcism. Previously developed as a television series at HBO Max, the adaptation has now shifted to Paramount as a theatrical feature.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti remain on board as producers through their Double Dream banner alongside Adam Goldworm’s Aperture Entertainment, while Hendrix will serve as an executive producer. Charlize Theron, who had been attached to the earlier television version, is no longer involved.

The novel follows a support group made up of six women who survived separate mass killings that later inspired iconic slasher franchises. Years after escaping their respective tragedies, the survivors find themselves facing a new threat that forces them to confront the trauma they thought they had left behind.

Landon, known for Happy Death Day, Freaky and several entries in the Paranormal Activity franchise, continues to expand his horror résumé with the project. Paramount is also developing Hendrix’s novella Bad Asstronauts as another feature adaptation.
