Canadian children’s and family entertainment company WildBrain is strengthening its presence in generative AI with the acquisition of US-based Personality AI, a company focused on building interactive experiences around entertainment characters.

The transaction includes an initial payment of US$11 million in cash and one million WildBrain shares. Additional payments could take the total value significantly higher, with the company set to pay up to US$56 million over the next three years depending on Personality AI’s revenue performance.

From Character IP to Interactive Experiences

As part of the deal, Personality AI founder and CEO John Goscha will join WildBrain’s executive leadership team, while the company’s AI and product development teams will also become part of the Canadian group.

Personality AI has already established partnerships across the entertainment industry. Its previous work includes a generative AI platform developed for Amazon Kids+ and an interactive voice experience featuring Peppa Pig, created with Hasbro and launched on Fire Kids tablets in 2025.

For WildBrain, the acquisition creates an opportunity to extend the value of character-driven IP beyond traditional content and licensing. The company plans to explore AI-powered experiences across digital platforms, consumer products and physical entertainment environments.

The company is also positioning the technology as a way to build longer-term relationships between audiences and entertainment brands. The company said the acquisition will support the development of scalable, safety-focused character experiences that can be adapted across different platforms and markets.

The move comes as WildBrain continues to reshape its business following the closure of its broadcasting channels operation, with a greater focus on its IP, licensing and franchise activities.
