Prime Video is expanding its international content slate with new adaptations from Japan, including a series based on Yugo Aosaki’s mystery novel Rock, Paper, Landmines and a live-action version of the classic manga Please Save My Earth.
What is Rock, Paper, Landmines about and when will it premiere?
Produced by Tokyo-based The Seven and Amazon MGM Studios, Rock, Paper, Landmines is set to premiere on Prime Video in November across more than 240 countries and territories. Based on Aosaki’s 2023 novel, the series follows a high school girl with an extraordinary ability to win games. When her best friend is put at risk, she becomes involved in a secret world of competitive school games where what is at stake is not life, but youth itself.
What is Please Save My Earth about and when will it premiere?
Prime Video is also bringing Please Save My Earth to the screen as a live-action drama. Originally published in 1986, Saki Hiwatari’s acclaimed sci-fi romance manga has become a landmark title in Japanese pop culture. The adaptation is being developed and produced by The Seven, with Alice Hirose attached to star and Takahiro Miki directing. The series is scheduled to premiere globally in autumn 2027.
The new projects further underline Prime Video’s growing focus on Japanese intellectual property and internationally recognizable stories, while continuing its strategy of developing local productions with global appeal.
