Studio 100 Film has acquired worldwide sales rights to Juul, a visually distinctive CGI feature from Belgian animation studio Fabrique Fantastique, and will introduce the project to international buyers at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Aimed at young adults and adults, Juul combines magical realism with an emotionally charged story exploring loss, resilience and hope. The 90-minute feature is directed by Tom Van Gestel and written by An De Gruyter.

Set in the 1950s, the film follows 17-year-old circus acrobat Juul, whose life changes forever after a tragic accident leaves her in a coma and declared brain-dead. As her family faces financial ruin, her magician father makes a desperate decision: he steals her body from the hospital and presents her as a “living puppet” in an attempt to save the struggling circus.

But Juul is still conscious, trapped inside a body she can no longer control. As her anger and resistance grow, her body begins to transform into porcelain, becoming a striking symbol of her rebellion and her struggle to reclaim her identity.

Produced by Fabrique Fantastique in co-production with M.A.R.K.13, Keplerfilm, Mr Miyagi and Avalon Films, the film features Sir Lenny Henry among its English-language voice cast. Grammy Award winners Michael League and Bob Lanzetti of Snarky Puppy are composing the original score.

Currently in production, Juul is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026. Studio 100 Film will handle worldwide sales, excluding Belgium, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.

With Juul, Studio 100 Film continues to expand its slate beyond traditional family animation, focusing on distinctive animated stories aimed at young adult and adult audiences.
