Writer-director Luna Carmoon, who made a significant impact with her debut feature Hoard, has wrapped principal photography on her second film, To Make Ends Meat.

Boasting a cast of rising stars, the production features Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17), Alison Oliver (Saltburn), Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment), and Armande Boulanger. To Make Ends Meat follows three women, bound by debts to despicable men, their troubled pasts, and each other, who are forced to bargain for survival through the only language these men understand: consumption and violence.

Carmoon describes To Make Ends Meat as a deeply personal and visceral work, born from the “belly of her soul” and fueled by a sense of raw rage. The story draws heavy inspiration from the director’s own family history, including her grandmother’s experiences and her mother’s life, reflecting on how women are often cannibalized by societal systems.

Financed by BBC Film and the BFI, the film’s international sales will be handled by Goodfellas, who are set to launch the project at the Cannes Film Festival. This follow-up comes at a high point for Carmoon, whose debut Hoard was a critical darling at the 2023 Venice Critics’ Week and earned her an Outstanding British Debut nomination at the 2025 BAFTAs.
