Sebastian Stan is making headlines with a radical physical transformation for his latest role in the upcoming family drama Fjord, which has just unveiled its striking first-look image.

The film is set to celebrate its world premiere at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, running from May 12–23, 2026. Directed by the Palme d’Or-winning Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu, Fjord marks his English-language debut. In a nod to his heritage, the Romanian-born Sebastian Stan will also speak his native language in several scenes, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the performance.

The project reunites Sebastian Stan with his A Different Man co-star Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World). They portray a devout couple who relocate from Romania to Norway, only to find themselves under intense community and state scrutiny when their daughter is found with bruises on her body. As the tension escalates, the film explores profound conflicts regarding family, freedom, and cultural progress.

While Neon has already secured the distribution rights for the US and UK markets, Marvel fans are also keeping a close eye on the actor; although he is slated to return as Bucky Barnes in Avengers: Doomsday later this year, rumors regarding the character’s uncertain future continue to stir concern among the MCU faithful.
