Netflix, in a landmark partnership with IMAX, has scheduled The Magician’s Nephew for a wide theatrical and IMAX release on February 12, 2027, followed by its streaming debut on Netflix on April 2, 2027. This production marks a historic milestone as the first-ever film adaptation of the series’ chronological prequel, exploring the very birth of the Narnia universe.
Gerwig, who also wrote the screenplay, has assembled a staggering ensemble cast featuring legends such as Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep, alongside Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, and Ciarán Hinds, while introducing newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell in lead roles.
The Magician’s Nephew‘s sonic landscape will be crafted by Oscar winners Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, reuniting with Gerwig after their massive success on Barbie.
