The Australian production company behind Colin From Accounts has secured the TV rights to Dervla McTiernan’s bestselling novel, Three Reasons for Revenge, with Shaun Grant attached to write the adaptation.
The company has secured the novel’s TV rights following a competitive bidding process and attached Shaun Grant (The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Snowtown) to write the series.
No broadcaster or streaming platform is attached to the project at this stage. Easy Tiger is expected to take the adaptation to market.
What Is Dervla McTiernan’s Three Reasons for Revenge About?
Published in 2026, Three Reasons for Revenge centres on three seemingly unrelated people whose lives become connected through a series of mysterious deliveries. Three identical packages arrive at different homes in Melbourne: a respected psychologist’s house, a socialite’s mansion and a struggling single father’s apartment. Each package is specifically tailored to its recipient, setting off a chain of events with devastating consequences.
The story also follows Detective Sergeant Judith Lee as she investigates the disappearance of Alexis Turner, a young woman who reported an assault before vanishing. As the investigation unfolds, Lee begins to uncover links between the missing woman and the three recipients.
The novel is McTiernan’s latest thriller and reached the top of Australia’s bestseller charts following its publication.
Shaun Grant to Write the Television Adaptation
Grant, whose credits include The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Snowtown, said he immediately saw the novel’s potential as a television series.
“From the moment I first read Three Reasons for Revenge, I immediately envisaged it as a television series,” said Grant. “It is a supremely crafted thriller full of surprises, and I thank Dervla for entrusting Easy Tiger and myself with her creation.”
Easy Tiger CEO Rob Gibson also welcomed the collaboration, calling McTiernan “a master at creating a gripping thriller plot” and Grant the right writer to bring the novel to the screen.
Easy Tiger Adds Another Literary Adaptation to Its Slate
Easy Tiger has built an international portfolio across drama and comedy, with credits including The Twelve, Scrublands, Territory, Rake and Jack Irish. Its comedy series Colin From Accounts, created by and starring Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, has also reached audiences in the UK and the US.
McTiernan’s work has attracted screen interest before. Her debut novel The Ruin was optioned for development, while What Happened to Nina? and The Murder Rule have also been developed for screen, with the latter at FX.
With a screenwriter now attached, Three Reasons for Revenge moves into its next stage of development. The project’s eventual broadcaster or streaming home has yet to be announced.
