Tony and Grammy-winning actor Jonathan Groff has officially signed on to join Daniel Radcliffe in the upcoming Vietnam War thriller Trust the Man, taking over a co-starring role after Lucas Hedges had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts, though Groff’s specific character details remain under wraps.

The film, written and directed by Will Graham, serves as an exciting reunion for Groff and Radcliffe, who previously shared the stage on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim’s critically acclaimed, house-record-breaking revival of Merrily We Roll Along.

Set to begin filming in New Jersey this summer, Trust the Man centers on an ambitious Army Intelligence officer tasked with investigating a highly decorated soldier who harbors a mysterious past during the Vietnam War. As the surveillance and intense interrogation deepens, the thin line between duty-bound loyalty and dangerous obsession blurs, pulling both men into an uncontrollable and volatile connection.

Both leading men are entering the project hot off individual Broadway triumphs; Groff recently wrapped a Tony-nominated run starring in and producing the jukebox musical Just in Time as Bobby Darin, while Radcliffe completed his own Tony-nominated run in the one-man show Every Brilliant Thing, with both highly successful productions fully recouping their financial costs.
