Sphere Media and Canadian producer Paul Barbeau, through Fairmount Films, have formed a strategic alliance to attract more international scripted television productions to Quebec. The partnership brings together Barbeau’s international network and production experience with Sphere Media’s established infrastructure and production capabilities.

The two companies will identify new opportunities, develop competitive service production proposals and support international clients throughout the creative and production process. Barbeau will lead business development, bringing scripted projects to Sphere, and serve as line producer on selected productions, overseeing logistics, budgets and client relations. Sphere will provide the corporate and administrative framework needed to deliver the projects.

Quebec at the Centre of International Production

The alliance will initially focus on scripted television series produced in Quebec, while remaining open to opportunities in other Canadian provinces. The partnership aims to strengthen the region’s position as a destination for Canadian, American and international productions.

Bruno Dubé, CEO and President of Sphere Media, said: “When I heard Paul wanted to bring service work on scripted series to Quebec, I seized the opportunity to make an alliance with him.”

Dubé added: “This partnership will strengthen Sphere’s service production offering, and position Quebec as an attractive destination for Canadian, American, and international scripted television productions. While we will continue to develop high-profile English and French-language projects for top tier broadcasters and global networks, Paul will combine attracting projects and building relationships with producers and applying the same physical production disciplines he has successfully developed in feature films to series, while protecting creative ambitions.”

Paul Barbeau Brings Nearly 30 Years of Experience

As founder of Fairmount Films, Barbeau brings almost three decades of experience in Canadian and international film production. His work spans approximately 1,000 productions, including feature films, short films, commercials and music videos. The alliance marks an expansion of his work into scripted television, combining his feature production expertise with Sphere Media’s resources.

“I’m excited to collaborate with Bruno and his excellent team at Sphere. I cannot wait to bring new scripted series production opportunities to Quebec and plan on making it a major international production hub going forward,” Barbeau said.
