HBO and BBC have renewed finance drama Industry for a fifth and final season.

Created and showrun by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the series is produced by Sony-backed UK outfit Bad Wolf. It follows a group of ambitious young graduates navigating the high-stakes world of investment banking in London. From its debut, the show was most frequently compared to HBO’s Succession for its sharp writing, morally complex characters and unflinching portrayal of power and ambition in elite circles.

The current season stars Myha’la Herrold, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, and Sagar Radia. The Season 4 finale airs this Sunday.

According to HBO, Season 4 delivered a roughly 30% increase in global viewership compared with Season 3. In the US, the series is averaging around 1.7 million cross-platform viewers per episode.

Francesca Orsi, executive VP of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films, said Industry has “solidified itself as an important contemporary, genre-bending drama in HBO’s line-up.”

Executive producer Jane Tranter added that Down and Kay have “magnificently matured a raw, brilliant idea into a bold and uncompromising drama.”

The series will conclude with its fifth season, nearly a decade after Down and Kay first conceived the project. Industry originally premiered in November 2020.
