Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first teaser for Verity, the highly anticipated adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s global psychological thriller.

Starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, the film follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), who is hired to finish a successful book series for the incapacitated author Verity Crawford (Hathaway).

However, upon entering the Crawford estate, Lowen finds herself entangled in a dangerous labyrinth of secrets. The chilling teaser sets a haunting tone, beginning with Lowen navigating the dark corridors of the house while Verity lies ill in bed, and peaking with a surreal reality-shattering moment where a romantic encounter with Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), shifts into an intimate encounter with Verity herself.

Directed by Michael Showalter, who reunites with Hathaway following the success of The Idea of You, the film also features Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner. Scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2, the project perfectly aligns with the moody atmosphere of autumn.

Following the massive box office success of other Hoover adaptations like It Ends with Us ($351M), Regretting You ($90M), and Reminders of Him ($84M), the new adaptation is being positioned as the highest-budget and most prestigious “event film” within the ever-expanding Colleen Hoover cinematic universe.
