Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant are starring in a romantic comedy for Amazon MGM Studios.
The story follows a hardworking Brit (Merchant) working at a New York hotel who needs to get married for appearances. Cameron Diaz plays a struggling stand-up comedian in need of health insurance, who enters into a fake marriage with Merchant; what starts as a transaction soon turns into an unexpectedly charming romance.
The new cast includes Fabrizio Guido (Running Point, Perry Mason), Lisa Gilroy (The Studio, Man on the Inside), Myra Lucretia Taylor (American Fiction), and Dustin Ybarra (Ghosts, One of Them Days), with Sherry Cola and Josh Segarra also appearing in the film.
Merchant is also directing the film and co-wrote the script with John Butler. Producers include Lee Eisenberg, Stephen Merchant, and Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Josh Fagen, with Natalie Sandy serving as executive producer.
