Babylon Berlin is preparing to bid farewell with its highly anticipated final season.
The eight-episode concluding chapter will premiere on September 10 via German public broadcaster ARD’s streaming platform, before airing on television in two four-episode blocks on September 19 and September 25.
Set between February and March 1933, the final season follows the final days of Germany’s Weimar Republic, as Adolf Hitler rises to power and the Nazi regime begins consolidating its control. Volker Bruch and Liv Lisa Fries return for one last time as Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter, while creators Henk Handloegten, Achim von Borries, and Tom Tykwer once again serve as the series’ showrunners.
Since its debut in 2017, Babylon Berlin has earned international acclaim as one of the most ambitious and expensive non-English-language television productions ever made. To accompany the series finale, the franchise will also expand with a Babylon Berlin video game, a behind-the-scenes documentary, and an original audio drama set in the show’s universe.
The final season was produced by X Filme Creative Pool in collaboration with ARD Degeto, regional public broadcasters WDR, SWR, HR, Radio Bremen, and RBB, with Beta Film serving as both a production partner and the international sales company behind the series. Beta Film has played a key role in bringing Babylon Berlin to audiences worldwide through its global distribution efforts.
In the United States, the first three seasons were originally released on Netflix before the series moved to MHz Choice, where the fifth and final season is expected to premiere in early 2027.
