Sacha Baron Cohen‘s secretly developed new Ali G film has officially been unveiled under the title Ali G: Who Iz I? The film will receive a wide theatrical release from Amazon MGM Studios on October 23.
The project also marks Sacha Baron Cohen’s feature directorial debut. Ali G: Who Iz I? is set to open alongside DC Studios’ Clayface and Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun, making for a competitive box office weekend.
The film reunites Cohen with Amazon MGM Studios following their collaboration on Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. Speculation surrounding the new Ali G project intensified after Cohen recently appeared at Wimbledon dressed as the iconic character.
Ali G first debuted in 1998 on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show before later making the jump to HBO with Da Ali G Show. The character’s first feature film was Ali G Indahouse in 2002, while Cohen achieved worldwide recognition with Borat in 2006.
