According to Kate Winslet, the second season of Mare of Easttown may have been greenlit.

British star Kate Winslet’s HBO series Mare of Easttown is one of the crime dramas that has left a strong mark in recent years. Created by Brad Ingelsby and released in 2021, the series also made a significant impact at the Primetime Emmy Awards, where it received multiple honors.

According to Kate Winslet’s last comments the series might come back with a second season. Kate Winslet, whil talking about directing her first future, Goodbye June, foor Netflix, mentioned Mare of Easttown and said:

“They were proper conversations around a timeframe when it could be possible. And so I think we probably will do it, and that’s the first time I’ve felt that.” About when the filming would begin, she said it “wouldn’t actually be this year, I reckon it would end up being 2027 to film it. There’s a strong likelihood it would film sometime in 2027.”

Created by Brad Ingelsby, who has recently been in the spotlight with the series Task, the show is set in a small town near Philadelphia. Standing out for its ability to capture small-town life on a universal scale, its people, worldviews, and hidden mysteries, the series rises above conventional genre storytelling. One of the standout hits of 2021, Mare of Easttown is a finely crafted work, distinguished by its strong dramatic structure, tightly woven plot, police procedural elements, and carefully placed narrative hooks.

There has been no official renewal from HBO so far. Kate Winslet’s comments are the clearest indication yet regarding a potential second season of the series.
