Malcolm in the Middle is set to return first with a four-episode revival on Disney+ and Hulu, premiering on April 10.

The story follows an older Malcolm, now living a separate life with his partner and daughter, who is pulled back into his chaotic family during his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary.

While most of the original cast is returning, the role of Dewey has been recast. New characters include Malcolm’s girlfriend Tristan (Kiana Madeira) and his daughter Leah (Keeley Karsten). The creative team is not ruling out a full-scale reboot following this revival, with discussions already circling around a potential next-generation storyline centered on Leah. Producers have even suggested that the actress playing Leah has the potential to carry an entire show on her own.

Original show creator Linwood Boomer, who also serves as EP on Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, said: “Keeley is an undiscovered star. As a performer, she has this crazy potential that would be silly for show business not to use.”

Although Frankie Muniz is currently focused on his NASCAR career, he has expressed openness to returning to acting in the future. Originally airing between 2000 and 2006, Malcolm in the Middle won seven Emmys, along with a Grammy and a Peabody Award, and remains a fan and critical favorite.
