US streaming platform Peacock has officially cancelled its spy drama Ponies after just one season.
The eight-part series, starring global icon Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Haley Lu Richardson, initially premiered in mid-January 2026. Created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, the show was produced as a joint venture between Universal Television and Pacesetter Productions.
Set against the intense geopolitical backdrop of 1977, Ponies derived its title from the acronym for “persons of no interest.” The plot centered on two women working anonymously as secretaries at the US embassy in Moscow whose lives take a dramatic turn when their husbands are mysteriously killed in the USSR, thrusting them into the high-stakes world of CIA espionage.
Despite its sudden cancellation, the series, distributed globally by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution, had already built a strong international presence, securing broadcast deals with Canada’s Showcase, Sky in the UK, and TVNZ in New Zealand during its brief screen journey.
