Blue Ant Media has acquired two factual series from BossaNova Media’s Development Day slate, bringing The Land That Made Us and Ruins: Rise and Fall to its Canadian channels, Smithsonian Channel Canada and Cottage Life, respectively.

The deals underline the ongoing partnership between the two companies and BossaNova’s role in financing and distributing premium factual programming for international audiences.

Exploring Britain’s Landscape and History

Produced by Tectonic Productions, The Land That Made Us (6 x 60 minutes) follows Professor Alice Roberts as she travels across Britain to investigate how geology and landscapes have shaped local communities and regional identities. Blending geology, archaeology and history with local stories, the series is being introduced to international buyers for the first time at MIPCOM 2026.

The programme has already secured presales to Channel 4 in the UK, BBC Select in the United States and SBS Australia. Tectonic Productions was established by Roberts alongside her longtime collaborators Dom Bowles and Theo Williams.

Reconstructing the Lost Worlds of Ancient Civilisations

Ruins: Rise and Fall (8 x 60 minutes), produced by Like A Shot, uses immersive 3D CGI to digitally reconstruct ruins from eight locations around the world. The series takes viewers from lost Mongolian fortress cities to Roman settlements built to defend against Celtic warriors, bringing historic sites back to life through detailed digital restorations.

Blue Ant Media’s Craig Junner, EVP and General Manager of Global Channels and Streaming, said both programmes offer compelling storytelling and fresh perspectives, making them a strong fit for the company’s channel portfolio.

BossaNova Backs Its Development Slate

BossaNova fully financed both productions, guaranteeing their entire production budgets and demonstrating its commitment to backing factual projects with international potential.

Commenting on the agreement, BossaNova Sales Manager Alex Lindsay said: “Blue Ant have been a long-standing partner of BossaNova so it’s fantastic to see them board two Development Day green light projects. This is a real testament to the important role BossaNova plays in funding exciting premium series through international collaboration. And on a personal note, I’m thrilled that my first agreement at BossaNova is with Blue Ant. Here’s to more years of partnership!”

London-based BossaNova Media specialises in content creation, production funding and distribution, connecting buyers and sellers across the international television industry. Founded in late 2020 by Paul Heaney, the company works with broadcasters and platforms across the UK, Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific and other markets.
