The buzzworthy Disney+ production Rivals, often hailed as “the naughtiest show on television,” is officially returning for its highly anticipated second season.
Based on Jilly Cooper’s beloved novel, Rivals has unveiled its new trailer along with a premiere date set for May 15, 2026. Available on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the US, the season will be released in two six-episode installments.
The star-studded ensemble sees the return of David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, and Emily Atack, while the cast is further bolstered this season by the arrival of screen icons Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett.

Set against the hedonistic backdrop of the 1980s, the fierce battle for the television franchise between Corinium and Venturer enters a more dangerous phase. Tony Baddingham, portrayed by David Tennant, remains more ruthless than ever, weaponizing scandals to dismantle his competitors and maintain his grip on power.
This season of Rivals also carries a poignant note following the passing of Jilly Cooper, the author of the original source material and an executive producer on the first season. Her legacy was honored during production when her close friend, Queen Camilla, visited the set. Produced by Happy Prince under ITV Studios, the series continues to be led by executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins.
