Netflix has renewed The Four Seasons for a third season.
The renewal was announced at the Banff World Media Festival by Netflix’s Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada.
The series is a comedy about middle-aged relationships and friendships, created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield. Season 3 will, like the previous seasons, consist of eight episodes and will follow four narrative arcs spread across the four seasons of the year.
The main cast, including Tina Fey, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, and Kerri Kenney-Silver, is set to return. Erika Henningsen’s character Ginny will also return as a series regular.
Steve Carell had left the main cast after Season 1 but appeared in a flashback in Season 2.
In the Season 2 finale, David Tennant made a surprise cameo appearance, and he is being discussed for a potentially larger role in Season 3. However, there is no official deal in place yet, though the creators are interested in expanding his storyline.
The show has performed strongly on Netflix, receiving positive critical reception. While Season 2 opened with lower viewership compared to Season 1, critical scores improved, reaching 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
