Beta Film has taken international distribution rights to Komar, a mystery drama from Bosnia. The deal continues the company’s partnership with BH Telecom after I Know Your Soul and The Hollow.

The series follows Mersiha, portrayed by Lejla Hakalovic. When Mersiha’s boyfriend, Miki, disappears without a trace while traveling by bus through the Komar mountains, Mersiha and her best friend, Jasna, embark on a desperate search. Meanwhile, some passengers awaken on the bus to find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere, with no cell service and no way to return to civilization. As Mersiha and Jasna dig deeper, they discover that dark forces are working to stop them.

Starring Lejla Hakalovic, Pia Vrdoljak, and Igor Skvarica, the eight-part thriller joins Beta’s expanding lineup of high-end dramas from the Balkans, including the Canneseries and Shanghai TV Festival winner Operation Sabre from Serbia, Venice Film Festival entry I Know Your Soul by Jasmila Žbanić, the Bulgarian drama Shattered Bonds, and the long-running Greek hit The Beach.

The series is helmed by showrunner Timur Makarevic, with Vedran Rupic and Una Gunjak as directors.

Produced by BH Telecom (BH Content Lab) with SCCA/Pro.ba as executive producer, Komar celebrated its world premiere last year at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, where it earned strong acclaim in the Avant Premiere section.
