The first teaser has been released for Sunny Dancer, the new British comedy-drama starring Bella Ramsey and James Norton.

Written and directed by George Jaques, the film centers on Ivy (Ramsey), a 17-year-old in remission from cancer who is sent to a summer camp by her parents. There, she is forced out of her comfort zone and begins forming new friendships with other young people navigating their own challenges. As Ivy confronts lingering fears about her health, identity, and future, the story balances emotional vulnerability with humor and warmth.

James Norton plays Ivy’s father, Bob, while the ensemble cast also includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Gunning, Ruby Stokes, and Daniel Quinn-Toye. The film has been described as offering a refreshing and unexpectedly uplifting take on the teenage cancer narrative, aiming to portray young people not as victims, but as resilient, complex individuals full of life.

Sunny Dancer had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it generated early positive buzz. Initial reviews have been favorable, with early ratings on Rotten Tomatoes marked as “fresh.”

A UK theatrical release date has not yet been announced.
