Production on the highly anticipated sequel series to the legendary 80s and 90s sitcom A Different World has officially wrapped in Atlanta, marking a major milestone for the Netflix project.
The 10-episode series reopens the doors of Hillman College through the eyes of Deborah (Maleah Joi Moon), the rebellious daughter of legacy characters Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. This new chapter bridges generations as Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison return alongside fellow original stars like Karen Malina White and Ajai Sanders, while also introducing a fresh cast of students navigating the complexities of HBCU life in the 21st century.
A Different World sequel has also expanded its impressive ensemble with the addition of Method Man as Coach Coles and Norman Nixon Jr. as Professor Baptiste. Ensuring the new series retains the heart and authenticity of its predecessor, the iconic Debbie Allen, who directed much of the original run, returns as both director and executive producer, working alongside showrunner Felicia Pride.
With a star-studded lineup that includes returning alumni such as Cree Summer, Darryl M. Bell, and Jada Pinkett Smith, the series is poised to introduce Hillman’s enduring magic to a whole new global audience.
