The award season is in full speed. With the Oscars or Academy Awards just a short while away, the winners of the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) were announced.
2024 SAG AWARDS WAS MARKED BY OPPENHEIMER
The award ceremony, which was broadcast live on Netflix for the first time in history, was marked by Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan. Cillian Murphy, the lead actor of the film, who won the “Best Film” award, and his co-star Robert Downey Jr. won the “Best Actor” and “Best Supporting Actor” awards respectively. After these awards, Oppenheimer is expected to stand out at the Oscars.
In addition, Lily Gladstone, who shone with her performance in Martin Scorsese’s last film Killers of the Flower Moon, won the “Best Actress” award. The fact that Emma Stone, who won the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for her performance in Poor Things, passed the SAG awards empty handedly increased Lily Gladstone’s chances before the Oscars. Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who appeared in The Holdovers, won the “Best Supporting Actress” award.
SUCCESSION: DISAPPOINTMENT IN SAG
On the television front, there were some surprises. Succession and The Bear, the series that marked the season, won the collective performance awards. However, the actors of Succession did not win any individual awards. The “Best Actor” award in drama went to Pedro Pascal for his performance in The Last of Us.
There was also a reunion at the 2024 SAG Awards, including a Devil Wears Prada reunion featuring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.
