Inter Medya had a busy MIPCOM 2026, presenting new drama titles, continuing international sales of its established catalogue, and expanding its presence in vertical storytelling.
Inter Medya President Hasret Özcan reflected on the changing dynamics of the international television market and discussed the company’s latest launches, including Black Sea, My Love and Caged Love.
The company also continues to license titles such as Eshref Ruya, Valley of Hearts, and Halef, while preparing to add five newly produced microdramas to its vertical content catalogue. Özcan shared how Inter Medya is approaching these different formats and leveraging its existing international partnerships to support further growth.
How would you evaluate MIPCOM 2026 for Inter Medya?
The market was good, enjoyable, and busy. We had meetings. However, three or four years ago, we used to have many more walk-in clients, with people coming through the door to ask what we were doing and how we could work together. There are far fewer of those now, but our meeting schedule was still busy. We came with a team of 15, and many of us had meetings every half hour.
Also when I look around the market and see the venue filled with Turkish companies, that makes me very happy. It is also an advantage.
You brought new projects to the market this year, including Black Sea, My Love and Caged Love. What has the response been like?
It is always great to come to the market with new projects. The first episode of Black Sea, My Love premiered while we were here. We believe in the project, and both the channel and the producer are supporting us. We hope to begin sales. There is interest, and people liked it. They liked its colours and the story.
Production of Caged Love is still ongoing. We have about one month left in production. We officially presented it here for the first time, and people are very happy with it.
Meanwhile, our series Eshref Ruya and Valley of Hearts continue to be licensed, and Halef is also continuing with its second season. In addition to our existing vertical catalogue, we have produced five more microdramas. It was important to announce them in advance, as we will be adding them to our catalogue soon.
How is the microdrama business developing for Inter Medya?
We are happy with it. We have the opportunity to license microdramas to vertical platforms, and we can also license them to our existing clients. The advantage of Turkish microdramas is that we can offer them to the broadcasters and digital platforms we already work with.
This allows us to recover many of our investment costs through those existing partnerships. Once we license the content to vertical applications, the additional revenue comes on top of that. So we are happy with the results. That is why we have produced five more.
