WAVES, a new international network dedicated to connecting women across the global entertainment industry, made its debut in Cannes on October 11, 2026. Its inaugural gathering brought together 60 women from 21 countries, including executives, independent producers, and entrepreneurs representing approximately 50 companies and organizations.

The invitation-only event introduced an initiative designed to encourage strategic collaboration, industry dialogue, and new business opportunities among women working across different areas of entertainment.

Building Connections Beyond Industry Events

Founded by Victoria Elmacioglu, WAVES stands for Women Advancing Voices in Entertainment & Screen. The network aims to connect women shaping the business of entertainment, spanning content development, production, distribution, international partnerships, and entrepreneurship.

Rather than serving solely as a meeting point during major industry events, WAVES is designed to operate year-round, creating opportunities for members to exchange expertise, develop partnerships, and support new ventures across companies and markets.

“Throughout my career, I’ve worked alongside extraordinary women who are leading companies, building businesses, and shaping the direction of our industry,” said Victoria Elmacioglu, Founder of WAVES. “WAVES is about bringing that collective experience and influence together. We have an opportunity to build something that extends beyond our annual industry gatherings, where women can actively support new ventures, share knowledge, and create business opportunities together.”

Responding to a Changing Entertainment Landscape

WAVES launches at a time when the international entertainment business is undergoing significant change. Shifting business models and evolving approaches to content development, financing, and distribution are reshaping the industry, creating both new challenges and opportunities for professionals across the sector.

By bringing established media executives together with independent producers and entrepreneurs, WAVES aims to facilitate the exchange of perspectives and help build partnerships across international markets. Through its year-round approach, the network seeks to strengthen professional connections and create new opportunities for women to collaborate and grow their businesses in an increasingly interconnected entertainment industry.
