Actor Burak Özçivit, the lead star of ATV’s upcoming drama Land of the Sun (Güneşin Doğduğu Yer), made an appearance at the broadcaster’s stand on the opening day of MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes. His visit marked a key moment in the series’ international launch, as television and media professionals from around the world gathered for the annual industry event.

Özçivit attracted considerable attention from fans and festivalgoers throughout Cannes. He also drew crowds while posing for photographs in front of promotional posters for the new series.

Meetings with International Buyers and Media

During his visit, Özçivit met with international industry professionals and members of the foreign press at ATV’s stand. In interviews, he discussed Land of the Sun and its international ambitions, making him one of the notable guests at the market.

The actor and the series’ producer, Burak Sağyaşar, were welcomed by ATV General Manager Ali Türkarslan, Deputy General Manager Dilaver Kıvrak, and Head of Content Sales Müge Akar. Their meeting included discussions about the drama’s international promotion and its prospects in global markets.

Burak Özçivit on the Universal Appeal of Turkish Dramas

Speaking to the press at the ATV stand, Özçivit highlighted the role of universal emotions in the international success of Turkish television dramas, identifying love as one of the genre’s most powerful connecting themes.

The actor emphasized the collective effort behind the series and sent his regards to his co-stars, who were unable to travel to Cannes due to their demanding filming schedules. He also noted that audiences across different countries can connect with the characters’ emotions and recognize aspects of their own lives in the stories, helping Turkish dramas resonate with viewers worldwide.

Beyond storytelling, Burak Özçivit pointed out that Turkish productions also introduce international audiences to Türkiye’s culture, cities, and tourism destinations. He added that viewers can expect the same universal feeling of love from Kenan Kozan, the character he portrays in Land of the Sun.

Produced by TİMSBİ Productions, Land of the Sun is produced by Timur Savcı and Burak Sağyaşar, with a screenplay by Yıldız Tunç. The drama combines a compelling storyline, distinctive characters, and an atmospheric setting as it seeks to attract international buyers.
