The international journey of Gulperi has reached another milestone, as its Portuguese adaptation, Vitória, won the 2026 Venice TV Award in the Soap/Telenovela category. Representatives of TIMSBI Productions, SIC and Global Agency celebrated the achievement at MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes, highlighting the success of the Turkish drama’s transition to a new market.

Originally produced by TIMSBI Productions and distributed internationally by Global Agency, Gulperi was licensed to SIC for a local scripted adaptation. Titled Vitória, the Portuguese version has brought the original story to local audiences through a new interpretation shaped by the country’s own production team.

Vitória: From Turkish Drama to Award-Winning Portuguese Adaptation

At the heart of both series is a determined mother fighting injustice and powerful family opposition as she attempts to reunite with her children and rebuild her life. The story’s emotional themes have travelled across borders, connecting with audiences in different markets.

Vitória premiered in prime time on Portuguese broadcaster SIC and was also made available through the streaming platform OPTO and Disney+. The Venice TV Award adds to the series’ achievements following its launch in Portugal, further highlighting the potential of Turkish dramas to inspire successful local adaptations.

The original Gulperi has also reached multiple international markets, including Angola and Mozambique, alongside its success in Portugal.

Global Agency and TIMSBI Productions Celebrate International Recognition

Izzet Pinto, Founder and CEO of Global Agency, welcomed the award and acknowledged the partnership with SIC.

“We are very proud to see Vitória receive this prestigious international recognition. SIC is a strong partner that we greatly value working with, and it was a pleasure to celebrate this achievement together at MIPCOM. ‘Gulperi’ has been sold to many countries and has achieved success across international markets. We believe its journey will continue with many more successes around the world.”

Burak Sağyaşar, Co-Founder and CEO of TIMSBI Productions, highlighted the importance of seeing a Turkish story embraced by audiences in another country.

“Seeing a story we created in Türkiye find a new life in another country, and seeing audiences there embrace it as their own, is always very meaningful for us. Gulperi is a solid story that has been warmly received in many of the countries it has aired in, and its success in Angola, Mozambique and Portugal was so strong that we were pleased to have SIC continue on the journey with a local remake.

To see that success turn into Vitória and now be crowned with a Venice TV Award makes us extremely proud. An adaptation only works when the local team truly makes the story their own, while keeping the heart of the original alive. SIC has done that beautifully. We are very happy to share this moment with our partners here at MIPCOM and to celebrate the success of Vitória together.”

A Continuing Journey for Turkish Stories Worldwide

The award underscores the role of international format licensing in helping established dramas reach new audiences through locally produced versions. For TIMSBI Productions and Global Agency, Vitória’s recognition demonstrates how a story created in Türkiye can find renewed success when adapted to the cultural context of another market.

The MIPCOM celebration brought the partners together to mark this latest achievement and the continuing international journey of Gulperi and its Portuguese adaptation.
