Gomorrah – The Origins, which explores the early years of the legendary Gomorrah universe, has been nominated for the prestigious Golden Nymph Award at the 65th Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

Represented by Beta Film, the series returns to the gritty streets of Naples and stands as one of only nine productions selected to compete in the Fiction category. This nomination places the show in the festival’s official selection, where winners will be unveiled during a star-studded ceremony at the Grimaldi Forum on Tuesday, June 16.

Spanning six episodes, the prequel transports viewers back to 1977, following the journey of a young Pietro in the impoverished neighborhoods of Secondigliano. Driven by a dream to become the “king” of his district, Pietro navigates the treacherous underworld while struggling with the conflict between his violent criminal path and his love for Imma.

Produced by Sky Studios and Cattleya (ITV Studios), Gomorrah – The Origins upholds the impactful legacy of Roberto Saviano’s cult-favorite original, which spanned five seasons and reached over 150 territories. Maintaining the franchise’s hallmark authenticity, the prequel was filmed on location in Naples and recorded in the local Neapolitan dialect, continuing the high standard of European storytelling established by the original series and its narrative bridge film, The Immortal.
