Lionsgate Studios opened fiscal 2027 with a sharp increase in revenue, fueled by a blockbuster theatrical run, a deep content library, and a growing list of future contracts.

Posting a 48% jump in revenue for the quarter ended on June 30, 2026, Lionsgate Studios opened fiscal 2027 with major financial gains. The company generated $776.6 million in total revenue alongside an operating income of $25.6 million.

Although standard accounting rules put the studio’s net loss from continuing operations at $28.8 million ($0.10 per share), Lionsgate posted an adjusted net income of $18.9 million ($0.06 per share). Adjusted OIBDA reached $79.3 million for the quarter.

With $54 million coming from operating activities and $128.9 million in adjusted free cash flow the company’s cash generation was just as strong. This performance helped Lionsgate reduce its leverage ratio to 4.3x trailing 12-month adjusted OIBDA, down by nearly two turns from the previous quarter.

The Motion Picture segment drove the majority of the quarter’s growth, accounting for roughly 76% of total company revenue. Film revenue reached $587.3 million (more than double the prior-year period, delivering a first-quarter segment profit of $105 million which is a new record for the studio.

Box office performance was anchored by Michael, which crossed $1 billion globally to become the highest-grossing biopic in history. The thriller The Housemaid also delivered strong post-theatrical earnings across digital and streaming platforms.

Television Production experienced a quieter period due to the timing of episodic deliveries, generating $189.3 million in revenue and $10.2 million in segment profit. However, management expects output to surge over the remainder of the fiscal year, with scripted series deliveries expected to double from fiscal 2026 levels.

Lionsgate’s catalog and sales pipeline continue to provide long-term visibility. The studio’s content library generated $987 million over the past 12 months, while its contracted filmed entertainment backlog grew 21% year-over-year to $1.5 billion.

“I’m pleased to report another quarter of strong financial results and growing momentum across our business,” said Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer. “As we continue to execute our franchise strategy across a deep portfolio of branded intellectual properties, generate increased visibility and stability from our film and television library, and benefit from continued improvement in our operating environment, we are positioned to deliver strong growth in fiscal 2027 and beyond.”
