The Conan the Barbarian franchise is getting a major revival, with Arnold Schwarzenegger teaming up with Christopher McQuarrie to bring the iconic warrior back to the big screen.

Titled King Conan, the new film will see Schwarzenegger reprise his legendary role, first immortalized in the 1982 classic Conan the Barbarian and its 1984 sequel, Conan the Destroyer.

The original film followed a young Conan, a Cimmerian warrior, who seeks vengeance after his village is destroyed and his parents are killed, ultimately facing sorcery, monstrous foes, and deadly warriors on his journey to confront the evil warlord Thulsa Doom.

In this new installment, McQuarrie, who directed the last four Mission: Impossible films, will both write and direct, charting a story that takes place decades later. Now in his 40s as a seasoned king, Conan faces a dramatic fall from power and must rise again, navigating a world filled with violence, magic, and mythical creatures.

Hollywood has long sought to bring Schwarzenegger back to the role, with previous attempts exploring an older Conan, though those projects never came to fruition. Alongside King Conan, Schwarzenegger is also developing new entries in other franchises, including the continuation of Predator and a potential Commando 2.
