78th Cannes Film Festival Begins Today: Official Selection

The 78th Cannes Film Festival officially kicks off today, May 13, 2025, and will run through May 24 in Cannes, France. Widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, this year’s edition promises a standout lineup of films, renowned directors, and special events.

The In Competition selection features new works from acclaimed filmmakers such as Wes Anderson, Julia Ducournau, Richard Linklater, Joachim Trier, and Kelly Reichardt. French actress Juliette Binoche leads the festival jury as president. 78th Cannes Film Festival will open with Partir un jour, directed by Amélie Bonnin, and 22 films will compete for the Palme d’Or.
