Netflix is expanding the world of Manifest with a new spin-off series titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery. The upcoming sci-fi drama will reunite members of the creative team behind the original series while introducing a new mystery and a new group of characters.
What is Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery About?
Produced by Warner Bros. Television, Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery begins when a mysterious plane crash lands in Denver. The passengers emerge from the aircraft with no memory of who they are, where they came from or why they are there.
As questions surrounding the passengers begin to grow, a young social worker and novice Homeland Security agent become involved in the mystery. Together, they attempt to uncover the truth behind the new arrivals while trying to prevent a catastrophe that could threaten humanity.
Netflix has yet to announce casting details or a premiere date for the series.
Who is Behind the Manifest Spin-Off?
The original series’ creator and showrunner Jeff Rake will return to the franchise as co-creator and co-showrunner of Arrivals. He will be joined by Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, who previously served as co-executive producers on Manifest and will now take on co-creator and co-showrunner roles for the new series.
Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke of Compari Entertainment will executive produce alongside Len Goldstein of Tall Baby Productions and Jacqueline Levine.
Manifest Continues its Journey on Netflix
The new spin-off extends the universe of the original series, which originally aired for three seasons on NBC before Netflix picked up the series for a fourth and final season.
According to Netflix, all four seasons of the original series have generated more than 130 million views since the first half of 2023. The fourth season also spent nine weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV ranking and reached the number one position in more than 90 countries.
With Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, Netflix is now set to continue the franchise with a new story built around another unexplained flight and a mystery with potentially global consequences.
