Heyday Films, the acclaimed production company behind The Adventures of Paddington, has partnered with StudioCanal, The Astrid Lindgren Company, and Dutch producer Submarine to develop a brand-new Pippi Longstocking CGI animated series.
Spearheaded by head writer and screenwriter Sara Daddy, the upcoming series will consist of 52 eleven-minute episodes (52×11’) and is officially scheduled to enter production this October.
Described by the creators as a “fresh, modern reboot,” the project aims to faithfully reintroduce Swedish author Astrid Lindgren’s iconic, free-spirited, and superhumanly strong character to today’s generation of children. Since its original publication in 1945, the classic book series has become a global phenomenon, translated into 80 languages with over 90 million copies sold worldwide.
Bringing this beloved world to life is a highly experienced production team, featuring David Heyman, Rosie Alison, Rob Silva, Simon Quinn, and Karen Davidsen, all of whom previously collaborated across three seasons of The Adventures of Paddington. Furthermore, this massive creative partnership extends beyond television, as StudioCanal, Heyday Films, and The Astrid Lindgren Company are also simultaneously developing a new Pippi Longstocking feature film for the big screen.
