MGM+ orders The Magnificent Seven series.
The Magnificent Seven movie, originally adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, is set to return as a TV show. The project is created and executive produced by Tim Kring. The filming will begin in June 2026.
The story centers on seven morally corrupt but talented mercenaries. It is set in 1880s America and will explore themes of redemption of flawed heroes, unity, solidarity and resistance against oppression. The series will launch on MGM+ across the U.S., the UK, Europe and Latin America.
