Disney+ has officially greenlit a new comedy-drama series titled DAD, which will be branded as a Hulu original in the global market.
Produced by A24 UK, the acclaimed studio behind successful projects like Dreaming Whilst Black and BBC’s Such Brave Girls, the upcoming series will consist of six 50-minute episodes.
Created and written by Clem Garritty, who is widely known for his work on The Rachel Incident and Life is Strange, the story centers on three grown-up siblings whose lives are irreversibly upended when their father is suddenly accused of a historic murder committed during their childhood.
According to Disney+ EMEA executives, the project masterfully blends a dark and emotionally complex premise with compassionate, surprising, and sharply funny storytelling. At its core, the series aims to challenge the audience by exploring deeply rooted themes of family and identity, raising the unsettling question of how well we can ever truly know the people who shaped us.
