Disney Kids & Family has officially boarded the animated series adaptation of the global bestselling fantasy book series Warrior Cats, which has sold over 90 million copies worldwide.

Through a strategic deal with the UK-based children’s content company Coolabi Group, the upcoming show is set to premiere on both Disney+ and Disney Channel in 2028.

This major project is being produced in partnership with the Chinese streaming giant Tencent Video, following a development deal originally signed between Coolabi and Tencent in 2024 to bring the franchise to both television and cinema screens. The animation will be handled by the CG and games studio Original Force.

The creative lineup features prominent industry talent, with AC Bradley (Ms. Marvel, What If…?) serving as the showrunner, and Rodrigo Blaas (Star Wars: Sith, Finding Nemo) directing the series in collaboration with El Guiri Studios. Originally written under the collective pseudonym Erin Hunter, the books delve into the complex world of wild cat clans. Marking the franchise’s first-ever television adaptation, the animated series will faithfully adapt the core storyline of the very first book arc, Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin.
