Calinos Entertainment has added a new Turkish drama to its international catalogue, acquiring worldwide distribution rights to Love in the Ashes, the English-market title of CNP Film’s Sevdan Bir Ateş.

The series premiered on Show TV in Turkey on September 9 and has already shown strong momentum in the local market, with its second episode delivering a significant ratings increase across all key audience demographics.

How Did Love in the Ashes Perform in Its Second Week?

The drama retained the top position across Total, AB and ABC1 audiences in its second week.

Episode two recorded a 7.42 rating in Total, 6.82 in AB and 7.88 in ABC1. Compared with its premiere, those figures represented increases of 3.88, 4.58 and 5.03 points respectively.

The performance gives Calinos Entertainment a new title with an established audience profile as the company prepares to introduce the series to international buyers.

What Is Love in the Ashes About?

Set between Cappadocia and Aleppo, the drama follows Mirza, whose life changes when Leyla disappears on their wedding day.

Seven years later, Mirza is preparing to marry Destan when his seven-month-old nephew Kerem is abducted by his father, who is involved in human trafficking.

Mirza travels to Aleppo to find the child and his brother-in-law, where he discovers that Leyla is still alive. His return to Cappadocia with Leyla and six-year-old Hüma soon puts him at the centre of a conflict within his own family.

Who Stars in Love in the Ashes?

Murat Ünalmış, known internationally for Bitter Lands and Gülcemal, leads the cast alongside Özge Özacar, who stars in One Love. Gökçe Eyüboğlu, Sitare Akbaş and Taner Rumeli also feature.

The series was filmed in Cappadocia and directed by Murat Saraçoğlu, whose credits include Valley of Hearts, Bitter Lands, Deception and Mrs. Fazilet and Her Daughters.

Love in the Ashes is a very strong example of what Turkish drama does best. It has love, family, secrets and conflict at the heart of the story, but it also has a scale and visual quality that make it feel very special,” said Aslı Serim, Head of Content at Calinos Entertainment.

“The response in Türkiye has been remarkable, with the series maintaining its #1 position across all audience categories while delivering an exceptional ratings increase with its second episode. Cappadocia gives the series an incredible setting, and Murat Ünalmış and Özge Özacar bring a lot to their characters. We are very confident that the story will connect with audiences around the world, and we are excited to introduce it to our international partners at MIPCOM.”

Sadi Canpolat, producer of the series, added:

”From the very first stages of the creative process behind Love in the Ashes, through the filming and production journey, and now as the series embarks on its broadcast journey, we eagerly look forward to the moment when the dedication, passion, and countless hours invested both behind and in front of the camera truly resonate with our audience. I sincerely hope that our story will continue to flourish as it finds its way to audiences around the world. I firmly believe that Love in the Ashes has the power to transcend borders, touch hearts, and leave a lasting impression on viewers across different cultures and countries for many years to come.”
