A new player has entered the vertical video space as The Age of Adaline screenwriter Salvador Paskowitz teams up with his business partner Timothy Nelligan to launch a microdrama-focused company, called Super Punchy Studios.

Their new venture aims to merge Hollywood-style storytelling with short-form vertical video content, reflecting the growing demand for mobile-first narratives.

In addition to producing content, the company is also developing its own proprietary vertical video platform, signaling ambitions beyond traditional production. The project is backed by vertical video creators Nicole Mattox and Seth Edeen, both of whom are actively involved in the microdrama space.

Super Punchy’s first project, Step By Step, is set to premiere in May as a 60-episode drama series. The show is based on a reworked feature film script, adapted into a format tailored for short-form consumption. Written by Kristin Monroe Paskowitz and Halo Gracey, the series stars Mattox and Edeen alongside Molly Anderson and Haley Lohrli.

Positioning itself with an “artist-driven rather than volume-driven” philosophy, the company is looking to build a new model for content creation, one that prioritizes originality, ownership and efficiency while helping shape the future of vertical storytelling.
