Mariliendre, an original musical series from atresplayer, has won the prestigious GLAAD Award for Best Spanish-Language Series, further cementing its status as one of the platform’s standout titles.
Produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Suma Content, the show earned widespread praise from critics and quickly became a social media sensation, ranking among the most talked-about TV series among audiences.
The series, created by Javier Ferreiro and starring Blanca Martínez Rodrigo, has been recognized at these international awards, which honor content that contributes to LGBTIQ+ visibility, inclusion, and representation. This is another major recognition, adding to the Best Cast award that Mariliendre won at the Series Mania Awards by Cinemanía.

The series also made history as it became the first show to participate in the Official Section, out of competition, at the Málaga Festival, closing this prestigious Spanish film event. Its journey didn’t end there: it also took part in the international Series Mania Festival in France and the Crossover Series Festival held in San Sebastián. Mariliendre was a success at each of these events, receiving highly positive reviews after its screenings.
Montse García and Andrea H. Catalá are the series executive producers, and Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi are the project’s producers. Blanca Martínez Rodrigo plays Meri Román, the protagonist of the story. She is joined by Martin Urrutia, Omar Ayuso, Carlos González, Yenesi, Álvaro Jurado, Mariona Terés, Mariano Peña, and Nina as the main cast of the series.
Mariliendre is distributed internationally by Atresmedia Sales, which is present at all audiovisual festivals and markets, including Series Mania in Lille from March 20 to 27 at MT35. The series is also now available in Portugal on the RTP Play platform.
This is Mariliendre
Meri Román was a queen of Madrid’s gay nightlife, but that was over ten years ago. Now, at 35, she is a dethroned diva, haunted by her past and bored with her mediocre present.
After her father’s death, Meri reconnects with her circle of gay friends, reminiscing about her past and the iconic songs that defined that era, while trying to make sense of her chaotic life and identity.
