Beta Film has secured a major deal with Italian public broadcaster RAI for three international female-led drama series: Barton Vet, A Guilty Affair, and Mozart Mozart. The agreement was announced ahead of MIPCOM 2026.
The package brings together productions from the US, Canada, France, and Germany, spanning veterinary procedural drama, psychological thriller, and historical fiction.
Which Drama Series Are Included in Beta Film’s RAI Deal?
Barton Vet (12 x 60′) stars Georgina Reilly (Quantum Leap, City on a Hill) as Dr. Kate Barton, who takes over her family’s rural veterinary clinic following her father’s death. While caring for animals alongside her team, Kate navigates personal challenges, relationships, and her own emotional healing. The US-Canadian series is produced by Shaftesbury in association with BYUtv and Beta Film, which handles worldwide distribution.
The French thriller A Guilty Affair (4 x 60′) follows Morgane, a high school principal desperately searching for her missing daughter. As the investigation unfolds, suspicion surrounds a newly appointed PE teacher with whom her daughter was having an affair. The series is produced by France Télévisions, Episode Productions, Be-Films, and RTBF, with Beta Film handling international sales.
What Is the German Period Drama Mozart Mozart About?
Set in 1780s Vienna, Mozart Mozart (6 x 60′) tells the story of Maria Anna Mozart, the talented but overlooked sister of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. When her brother’s behavior threatens the family’s future, Maria Anna secretly assumes his identity and performs under his name.
The German period drama is produced by Story House Pictures in co-production with ARD (WDR/SWR/ARD Degeto Film), ORF, and Dreaming Sheep Company. Beta Film and Bavaria Media jointly handle worldwide sales.
The three acquisitions expand RAI’s international drama offering, bringing together female-led stories across distinct genres and historical settings.
