Rex – Vienna Calling returns for a second season
The contemporary revival of the long-running Rex – A Cop’s Best Friend franchise stars Maximilian Brückner as Vienna detective Max Steiner, who works alongside Rex, a German Shepherd with an exceptional ability to track down criminals.
Six new feature-length episodes are currently in production, with filming taking place at locations across Vienna.
The first season delivered strong results in its home markets. On SAT.1 in Germany, the series reached almost 1.6 million viewers, while Austria’s ORF recorded audiences of up to 883,000. In Italy, the series ranked second on Rai 2 with more than 750,000 viewers.
Produced by MR Film in co-production with SAT.1 and ORF, Rex – Vienna Calling is distributed worldwide by Beta Film. The latest deals further extend the reach of the Rex franchise, which has been adapted across multiple territories over its three-decade television history. Its Canadian adaptation, Hudson & Rex, has already been renewed for a tenth season.
