Building on its domestic dominance, Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi has achieved a significant milestone by securing the “Triple Crown” for the second consecutive year in 2025.

By ranking number one across the All Day, Golden Time, and Prime Time slots, TV Asahi has solidified its leadership in the Japanese market through a robust lineup of news, drama, and variety programming. To leverage this momentum on a global scale, the network is launching a new Sunday night programming block titled “Global Challenge” for the 2026 fiscal year. This dedicated slot is designed specifically to develop and incubate content with high international potential, marking a strategic pivot toward aggressive global expansion.

The cornerstone of this new international push is the third season of the dating reality series Love Time Travel, which is set to debut this April. The format, which explores romantic connections across different eras, is built to be easily adaptable for various cultural markets.

TV Asahi’s global ambitions are backed by a strong track record of format exports, including the long-running hit Ranking the Stars and the successful Japan–US co-production SONG vs DANCE. Moving forward, the network intends to deepen its collaborations with international partners, aiming to bring its “Japan-born” creative expertise in unscripted entertainment and physical competition shows to audiences worldwide.
