Robert Eggers is working on a new feature film, titled Werwulf. Eggers became one of today’s most talked-about directors, following the buzz of Nosferatu, which stars Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgård, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Nicholas Hoult.
Robert Eggers is currently in talks with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp to reunite for his upcoming film, a werewolf story set in 13th-century England. The director is reportedly eager to lock in the cast as soon as possible, and discussions with the two actors are already underway.
Werwulf is being co-written by Robert Eggers and Icelandic author Sjón, who previously collaborated with them on The Northman. The film will be produced by Focus Features, which has been behind all of Eggers’ previous films. The aim is to release Werwulf in time for the 2026 holiday season.

Meanwhile, Eggers is also developing another project, a fresh adaptation of A Christmas Carol, the classic 1843 novella by British author Charles Dickens. Eggers is said to want Willem Dafoe in the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
A Christmas Carol is one of the most famous ghost stories in literary history, telling the tale of how Scrooge wakes up on Christmas morning a changed man, kinder, more generous, and ready to embrace the holiday spirit.
