Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for The Love Hypothesis, the upcoming adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel.
The film stars Lili Reinhart as Olive Smith and Tom Bateman as Adam Carlsen, bringing to life a romance set in the academic world of Stanford University.
The story follows Olive, a focused PhD student determined to build her scientific career, whose plans take an unexpected turn after a spontaneous incident leads her into a fake relationship with the intimidating Professor Carlsen. What begins as a practical arrangement meant to manage personal complications gradually evolves into something much more emotionally complex, as the boundaries between performance and genuine feeling start to blur.
Directed by Claire Scanlon and written by Sarah Rothschild, the film is produced by Elizabeth Cantillon. Blending romantic comedy elements with an academic backdrop, the trailer highlights both the emotional tension and playful chemistry between the leads. The Love Hypothesis is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 23.
