Netflix is set to premiere its new supernatural sci-fi series The Boroughs, created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance fame, with the Duffer Brothers serving as executive producers.

Set in a seemingly idyllic retirement community in the New Mexico desert, The Boroughs masterfully blends horror, mystery, and comedy. The plot follows a group of “misfit heroes” who must band together to uncover a dark and supernatural secret lurking beneath the town’s sun-drenched facade.

The series boasts a stellar cast led by Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman, Denis O’Hare, and Clarke Peters. The Duffer Brothers describe these characters as a version of the Stranger Things kids who are “a few years older but just as lovable.”

With the first two episodes directed by Sex Education’s Ben Taylor and produced under the Duffers’ Upside Down Pictures banner, all eight episodes of this compelling drama will arrive on Netflix on May 21.
