Forensic Files is now being adapted into a vertical video format following a licensing agreement between Content Partners and microdrama start-up GammaTime.
In the initial phase, 15 episodes of the series will be reimagined for vertical viewing.
The original show aired between 1996 and 2011, spanning 14 seasons and more than 400 episodes, and was broadcast on networks including TLC, Court TV, and TruTV. GammaTime, founded by former executive Bill Block, raised $14 million in 2025 and is positioning itself as a destination for mobile-first true crime content.
The platform has already expanded its footprint by striking a deal with Latin American production company Idilio to develop Spanish-language vertical series. According to executives, Forensic Files’ tightly structured storytelling makes it particularly well-suited for short-form, vertical viewing experiences.
The project reflects a broader industry trend, as legacy television content is increasingly being adapted into shorter, mobile-friendly formats designed for next-generation audiences.
