Supergirl is among the most anticipated films of 2026.
The film, starring Australian actress Milly Alcock, had its first preview at the Supergirl event in New York. A new trailer has now been released.
James Gunn’s Superman was one of the standout releases of 2025. Representing a fresh start for the DC Universe, the film was also a major commercial success. Kara Zor-El, cousin of Kal-El (Clark Kent), was first seen in Superman. With her brief cameo in that film, Supergirl now embarks on her own independent adventure.

Starring Australian actress Milly Alcock, this film tells an anti-hero story, in contrast to Superman. Supergirl, with a darker mindset and multiple internal conflicts, follows a different trajectory than Superman. The anti-hero is expected to bring a new and exciting energy to the reimagined DC Universe as a fresh character.
The newly released trailer prominently features the character “Lobo,” played by the famous actor Jason Momoa. Lobo appears to play a significant role in the film. The new Superman, David Corenswet, is also seen in the trailer.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film’s story centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, portrayed by Eve Ridley, whose quest for revenge drives the plot. Ruthye seeks Kara Zor-El’s help to find “Krem of the Yellow Hills,” who killed her family. Additionally, the fan-favorite super dog “Krypto” from Superman appears as Kara’s loyal companion.
Supergirl will hit theaters on June 26.
